The 4th SEPA European Symposium held by SEPA (Spanish Society of Periodontics and Implants in the incomparable setting of the Palau de Música in Barcelona). The meeting’s central theme was “Bone reconstruction in implant therapeutics”, with speakers such as Dr. Federico Fernández-Alfaro, Dr. Istvan Urban and Dr. Luca de Stavola presenting different therapeutic approaches to the clinical practice.
A significant percentage of patients who come to dental surgeries to correct the lack of one or more teeth also have differing degrees of bone atrophy. This situation makes rehabilitation difficult and sometimes impossible with a fixed implant-supported prosthesis. Bone reconstruction takes up a significant percentage of implant treatments, which is why dentistry professionals must acquire ever more knowledge about the reconstruction of the bones that hold the teeth.
